Born Melbourne, Australia, Melinda McCarthy has been an exhibiting artist for well over 10 years
Throughout her career, she has worked on various freelance assignments with a large spectrum of people from those in theatre and various performers to community groups. Working with various mediums, her commissions and projects have involved painting, illustration, photography, screen-print, set and costume design, short film, installation, music and performance. As well as exhibiting in solo and group shows and projects, she has travelled the world playing traditional eastern European music on double bass.
Her inspiration comes from the ancient stories and songs of various cultures collected on her extensive travels , a journey initially triggered from being adopted and searching for her biological roots in Hungary and the United Kingdom.

Melush is a nickname in Hungary for Melinda and has since become a nickname in general for her.
After 3 years overseas, Melinda has moved back to Melbourne as her base, but still continues to exhibit new work shown both in London and Europe with work going into the Biennale of Chianciano this September. Her work is held in private collections worldwide.
