Melinda McCarthy's work is strongly inspired by mythology, legend and folk-lore. Connecting with the mysticism as well as the every day of those before us.
She is also drawn to the spiritual magical side of such tales and their symbolism.

As a consequence of this her paintings often have a dream-like quality, the look of some infact also being inspired by dreams.
Fascinated by old writing scripts and what they reveal about different cultures, these too are often found woven into the images.

Always searching for more stories, legends and history of times, beliefs and people past, she would welcome any commissions of this nature or collaborative work.

Due to the narrative nature of the work, it is also perfect for illustration of books and concepts, breathing life into newer tales which have a fantasy or folkloric feel.
